Parents/Guardians of swimmers on the Competition Team are required to volunteer at swim meets a minimum of 15 hours for 1 child, 20 hours for 2 children, or 25 hours for 3+ swimmers. If both the parents would like to volunteer, then please submit one form for each parent. Please indicate your first, second and third choice for each of the committees listed below. You may also indicate whether or not you would like to be a Committee Head, which involves more hours and responsibility.

Swim Team Parent Committee Descriptions

  • Announcers: (By Invitation Only) Announces events and other information
  • Check-in Swimmers: 7:15 to 8:30 near entrance, report absences to coaches and computer table
  • Clean up: Disassemble canopies, return tables and chairs, pick up pool deck (Home Meets*)
  • Clerk of the Course: Lines up swimmers according to lane order and directs them to starting blocks, alerts starter if any absent swimmers
  • Deck Cleaning: Sweep debris fallen from trees and hosing deck towards end of practice
  • Fundraising: Writes letters to solicit prizes for our swimathon
  • Gatewatch: (Parents of 3+ kids or PreComp team parents only) During practice, check in swimmers, monitor front desk and bathrooms
  • Gator Rummage Sale: Coordinate donations and help run sale on Fri/Sat May 15-16
  • Judges: (Requires league training) Monitors for correct stroke and turns during competition
  • Locker Room Monitors: Clean up bathrooms during practice or for home swim meets. Restocks supplies, monitors behavior in bathrooms for any safety issues during meets
  • Marshalls: Patrols swim deck and monitors for general safety of pool area (Championship Meet)
  • Photographers: Take high quality pictures for the end of year video
  • Recycling: Collect bagged recycling items in storage bin next to dumpster, sort and transport them to the recycling center
  • Relay Cards: Label relay cards, make any changes the Thursday before the meet, deliver to Claudia Friday
  • Results: During the meet, enters race results and DQs into computer. Posts results. Prints ribbon labels
  • Ribbons: Labels ribbons with race times and improved times labels, files ribbons.
  • Runners: Picks up and delivers timer sheets to computer results table at meets
  • Set Up: (Home Meets*) Setup up canopies, tables, computers, etc. from 6:15am to 7:45am
  • Sell Programs: Sell programs at championship meet from 6:45 am to 8:45 am
  • Shepherds: for swimmers 8 years & under, ensures relay group stays together, reminds them which stroke they are swimming
  • Snack Bar: (Home Meets*) Sets up snack bar area, prepares food, sells snacks, cleans up area
  • Spirit: Organizes fun activities and coordinates setup for special events
  • Starter: Signals the start of each race; requires training with Valley Aquatic League
  • Suit Sizing and Orders:Assists finding correct competition swim suit size, places orders
  • Swimathon: Counts and records laps at Swimathon
  • Team Store: Sets up at 7:15am, sells swim gear, records sales, and cleans up
  • Timers: Uses stopwatch to record race times
  • Transporter: Transports equipment, canopies, and tables to and from the meet
  • Video Coordinator: Produces end of year video for team

    *Home Meets include a time trial at the Westgate Cabana Club and at locations shown on website
