WESTGATE GATORS SWIM TEAM PROGRAM

The Westgate Gators Swim Team is for youth ages 5 to 18 years.  The Valley Aquatic League limits swim meet competitions to 135 swimmers per team. Age cutoff is May 31. Westgate enrolls about 12 swimmers per age group. This allows for absences due to vacations, illness or injury, without exceeding the meet limit requirements.  The League age groups are 6&U Girls, 6&U Boys, 7/8G, 7/8B, 9/10G, 9/10B, 11/12G, 11/12B, 13/14G, 13/14 B, 15/18G, 15/18B.
  • Competition team Apr 26-July 18 requires participation in at least two swim meets to qualify for Championship Swim Meet on July 17, 2027.
  • PreComp Team (non-competition) Apr 26- June 3 is for swimmers who may be traveling in the summer and unable to commit to swimming in at least two swim meets.
NOTE: PreComp and Competition teams both start April 26, you must choose which is best for your summer schedule. Both PreComp and Competition Team require parent volunteer hours. See Parent Duties for more details. QUESTIONS? email [email protected]

Competition Team   – for 2027

  • Competition Team runs April 26 to July 18
  • Competition team requires participation in at least 2 swim meets to qualify for Championship Swim Meet.
  • Requires parent volunteering at swim meets. See Parent Duties. Swim team gatewatch does not qualify for WCC membership gatewatch or vice versa.

  • Priority Registration

    • Returning Swim Team & 2026 WCC Members: starts January 21
    • New 2026 WCC Members: starts February 1
    • Non-members: starts February 11

  • Water Safety Check

    Requirement for new Swimmers Only. Must demonstrate the ability to swim 25 yards (1 pool length) unassisted, in less than 100 seconds, bob in deep water 15 times, reverse direction, tread water for 45 seconds, hold breath underwater 10 seconds. Swimmers may rest on lane line but not pull on it nor walk on the bottom.

  • Swim Team Fees

    Swim Team fees are the same for PreCompetition and Competition Teams. Parent volunteer hours are required for both teams, however fewer hours are required for PreComp team. Hours due but not contributed will be billed to your account at the end of the season at the rate of $30 per unfilled hour.
